Previously, the walkways were covered by steel plates, which
corroded in the aggressive environment. Furthermore, the gratings were slippery. The use of gratings and planks in glass fibre reinforced plastics solved these problems, as GRP is a corrosion resistant material not deforming by impacts or pressure.

At the same time working safety was improved, as gratings as
well as planks are non-slip and provide comfortable underfoot.
This is of great importance to employees who stand and walk
at the bathes many hours every day.
