Fiberline’s own wind turbine reduces CO2 emissions by 1,500 tonnes annually

Fiberline’s electricity consumption went into reverse as long ago as 2000 when the company’s own wind turbine put 30% more power into the grid than the company actually used.

The wind turbine was built as part of Fiberline’s determination to carry out production with minimal environmental impact.

“We installed the wind turbine for three reasons: Because it was good for the environment, because it made good financial sense, and because wind turbine blades are an excellent example of the strength and durability of GRP composite,” explains Henrik Thorning, Managing Director of Fiberline.

Fiberline invested DKK 6.7m in the new wind turbine, whose 27-metre blades for a long time generated more electricity than the company used.

How Fiberline’s wind turbine benefits the environment:

Wind turbine output is 1 MW.
Substituting wind power for coal, an average annual output of 1,800 MWh will reduce environmental emissions as follows:

Sulphur dioxide, SO2 0,5 tonnes annually
Carbon dioxide, CO2 1541 tonnes annually
Cinders/fly ash 97 tonnes annually
Nitrous oxides, NOx 1,9 tonnes annually
Dust 54 kgs annually
Coal saved 655 tonnes annually
