The harsh Russian winter means that every year Russia uses vast quantities of road salt to combat snow and ice on the country’s roads.

However, this means that steel or concrete bridges quickly fall prey to corrosion and have to be repaired each spring.

If not repaired the bridges deteriorate rapidly, and as repairing a bridge spanning a main railway line is no simple task the annual maintenance bill is huge.

Faced with replacing a bridge in Moscow, Russian bridge builder ApATeCH opted to use GRP and teamed up with Fiberline Composite who also supplied the profiles.
